15 Journal Prompts for Mother’s Day

A bunch of pink and teal balloons spell out MOM

It’s only two days away till Mother’s Day. So often this holiday gets reduced to little trinket gifts and maybe brunch. But this holiday really is about being sentimental. Our mothers do so much for us, and it only makes sense that we return the favor with equal effort.

This year, instead of a few sentences in a card, why don’t you go a bit deeper? Why not send her a journal entry filled with all the ways she means so much to you?

I know I usually tell folks to keep their journals to themselves. But that only matters when the journal is raw and unfiltered. When gifting someone a journal, you write to a new audience. Think of it as a sentimental letter or a prose poem.

Don’t know where to start writing? No problem! Here is a list of Mother’s Day gift prompts to get you started and a few bonus prompts for you too!

Look. I know Mother’s Day is not always an easy holiday. That is why I wanted to post a couple of prompts for those who don’t have a great relationship with their mother. These prompts are for your private journal.

(Psst. Just because you are gifting your mom an honest journal prompt filled with loved doesn’t mean you don’t need these prompts too!)

1.      When I was a child, I needed more….

2.      When I was a child, I needed less….

3.      What childhood memories do I wish I could let go?
